Rio Ferdinand Ready to Return Next Weekend |
Rio Ferdinand has been out injured since damaging his knee ligaments in a training-ground collision at England 's World Cup base in Rustenburg on June 4, but yesterday Rio Ferdinand to play againt Oldham by Manchester United reserves. It had been thought that Ferdinand would be out until the end of the month, but Manchester United ’s reserve team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now indicated that the centre-back could be available for United’s lunchtime trip to Goodison Park next weekend to face Everton.
Ferdinand came through 45 minutes of a reserve team game unscathed this week and Manchster United legend Solskajer believes that he is now ready for first-team selection.
According to the Daily Mirror, Solskjaer said, "Rio is always the same player,I am not sure he needs any more games. Rio is a naturally fit lad. Today was about distances and getting tighter to the ball. Now he is available for selection again.It is a while since he has played but he was still calm. He has get through an important 45 minutes, straight after two very hard training sessions yesterday and the day before so we are delighted with him"
Ferdinand will be joined in the Manchester United line-up by Wes Brown, Anderson, and Federico Macheda who is also on his way back from long-term injury.
