Jonny Evans - Manchester United defender Jonny Evans believes he has now gained the trust and acceptance of his peers at Old Trafford as he continues to be an integral part of Sir Alex Ferguson's defence.

United face a testing week with a Champions League tie against Rangers on Tuesday before a visit from old rivals Liverpool next weekend and Evans will be hoping to maintain his position in the back line despite facing competition from Nemanja Vidic, Wes Brown, Chris Smalling and the returning Rio Ferdinand.

Evans told Sky Sports: "Whoever the manager chooses you have to accept it. It is good to have Rio Ferdinand back as he is such an important player in the squad.

"My place is always under threat even if Rio came back or not. I have Chris Smalling and Wes Brown behind me waiting for their chance to play.

"So any mess ups or if the manager doesn't think you are putting it in, he is going to take you out of the team. I do not think my position has changed that much.

"But I am sure I have gained the trust of all the lads, the manager and fans. When they see my name on the team-sheet they are not worried I was a young lad stepping in.
