Scholes still undecided about playing next season

Paul Scholes so far has not made a definitive statement about whether he will return next season, and I don’t think Fergie is even sure at this point.

The longer that Scholes takes to sign a new one-year extension, the more likely it seems to me yhat he will be at Old Trafford next season.

 

Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Darron Gibson wants to join Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher and sign a new deal. Speaking to Click Manchester, Gibson seemed confident that he will sign a new long-term deal.

“I have one year left on my contract and there haven’t been discussions but I’m confident I’ll get a new one. I’d love to be here for the rest of my career.”

Carrick Signs New Manchester United Contract

Michael Carrick has signed a new contract with Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2014.

Although Carrick has not enjoyed the best of seasons, he has improved in recent games, and with Sir Alex Ferguson beginning the process of reshaping his squad he was keen to keep the 29-year-old who joined from Tottenham in 2006.

Speaking to the club's official website, Ferguson said: "I am delighted Michael has signed a new contract. He has been outstanding since joining us from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, he is a true professional and it’s great he has committed his future to the club."

Also speaking to the United website, the player expressed his delight with his new deal.

Carrick said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at this great club. There is fantastic team spirit within the squad and I'm pleased to have committed my future to United.

"We are in a very good position at the moment and I am confident this team will be successful for many years to come.”

The 29-year-old has won three Premier League titles, a European Cup, and three League Cups with United – the last of which he lifted after captaining the team against Aston Villa last year.

"Ever since I arrived at United [in 2006], it's been a dream come true playing here," he said. "The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.

"I have won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that's the mentality of everyone here."

Man Utd News: United Offer Patrice Evra New Deal For long-term Contract

Man Utd have offered Patrice Evra a new deal as Real Madrid and Inter Milan continue to show interest in the defender. according to The Sun.

The 29-year-old Frenchman still has 18 months left on his £70,000-a-week deal in Manchester and the table-toppers will reportedly award him with an improved contract until 2014.

Fergie wants to act swiftly to secure one of his key players on a long-term deal. Evra joined United from Monaco five years ago in a £7m deal and after a wobbly start has established himself as one of the world's top full-backs.

UNITED News: Ryan Giggs set for new Man Utd deal

Manchester United chief executive David Gill is planning on opening contract talks with veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs. 

The Welsh wizard, who is approaching his 20th senior year with the Red Devils, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Gill said: "I wouldn’t be surprised if he extends his contract for another season. "That will be addressed in the next month or so. He has been playing well, keeps himself in great shape and is a wonderful advert for the modern footballer."

Gill also believes manager Sir Alex Ferguson's experience will prove crucial in the run-in for the Barclays Premier League title.
