It’s my best season at United, but the most important thing is to win the trophies with the team. When I have won the trophies, I will look back at how I have contributed.”

Nani said: "Ronaldo spoke to me before the Marseille game and told me how well I'm doing. We're big friends."

Marseille defensive midfielder Stephane Mbia has claimed he is dreaming of one day becoming a Manchester United player.

The 24 year old Cameroon international is contracted to the French giants until 2014. “I do not look at Manchester United in the same way as other teams.

  

“I do not look at Manchester United in the same way as other teams,” he said. “They are a dream. A dream that has become feasible. More than ever, thanks to my performance and that of my team. I want to go as high as possible. Real Madrid is a very good team too. But the club of my heart, my dreams, is Manchester. I feel good in Marseille but we must be ambitious.”

United and City battle for Jack Rodwell

Manchester United and Manchester City are set to go head-to-head in a battle to land Everton’s England Under-21 midfielder Jack Rodwell.

Sir Alex Ferguson sees Rodwell, who’ll be 20 next month, as a perfect addition to his stock of young players and he has been identified as someone who could take on part of the responsibility of replacing Paul Scholes.

 

The veteran Reds star has yet to decide whether to stay on at Old Trafford for a further 12 months like Ryan Giggs has just done or retire like his other Class of ‘92 buddy Gary Neville. Whether it is this summer or next, Fergie is keen to find a player who could tick the boxes as Scholes’ successor.

Rodwell is more of a defensive engine room player, who also has the potential to play centre back, but he has also proved he has an attacking side to his game, scoring against United last season in a 3-1 win at Goodison Park and is also two-footed.

Man Utd News: Giggs signs new United deal

Ryan Giggs has signed a one-year extension to his contract, in a deal that will see the winger complete his 21st season as a first-team player. Giggs, 37, is still at the peak of his powers and has helped drive United to the top of the table. 

Giggs said: "All I’ve ever wanted to do is play for United and I’ve been lucky enough to do that for 20 years.  It’s great to know I’m still contributing to the team’s success and I feel I’ve got a lot to offer on and off the pitch.  This is an exciting time to be involved with so many good young players coming through."

Has made a club record 862 appearances, scoring 158 goals.  He has won 11 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, two Champions Leagues, one Super Cup, an Intercontinental Cup and a Club World Cup.

United lose Park Ji-Sung to hamstring injury for four weeks

Park Ji-sung has been ruled out for four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on Friday.

The South Korea international, only recently back from a month-long stint at the Asian Cup in Qatar, damaged the muscle in training.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: 'We got a blow on Saturday morning with the news that Park Ji-sung did his hamstring on Friday afternoon in training.

'It was very unfortunate because it was his last kick of the ball in training as well. We were really looking forward to having him back after being away for a month at the Asian Cup. He'll be out for up to a month, which is a blow to us. Read more..

Man Utd have offered Patrice Evra a new deal as Real Madrid and Inter Milan continue to show interest in the defender. according to The Sun.

The 29-year-old Frenchman still has 18 months left on his £70,000-a-week deal in Manchester and the table-toppers will reportedly award him with an improved contract until 2014.

Fergie wants to act swiftly to secure one of his key players on a long-term deal. Evra joined United from Monaco five years ago in a £7m deal and after a wobbly start has established himself as one of the world's top full-backs.

Hull City Sign Man Utd Striker Cameron Stewart

Latest United January Transfer News: Man Utd striker Cameron Stewart transfer to Hull City for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old attacker was on loan at Yeovil Town earlier this season but joined Championship side Hull in November and has since made a string of impressive displays. His loan deal was initially extended until the end of the season, but the Tigers have moved to make the deal permanent.

And Hull have tied him to a contract until 2014, with boss Nigel Pearson saying: "We are absolutely delighted to have secured Cameron permanently.

"He is a player who has shown plenty of promise during his time here and he has a very bright future in the game."

Maarten Stekelenburg favourite to be United new No1

Maarten Stekelenburg is Man Utd first choice to replace his fellow Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar at Old Trafford.

 

"Stekelenburg is the keeper who is at the top of our wanted list," Muelensteen (united first team coach) told Dutch magazine Voetbal International. 'We talk a lot among ourselves about who should replace Van der Sar. Alex Ferguson has spoken about Stekelenburg with Edwin.'

United have also looked at two highly regarded keepers, Atletico Madrid's 20-year-old David de Gea and Sporting Lisbon's Rui Patricio, 22. Stekelenburg is far more experienced, having played in last summer's World Cup final.

Man Utd will step up their efforts to land Spanish wonderkid keeper David De Gea after Edwin van der Sar confirmed yesterday that he will retire at the end of the season.

It has been an open secret that Manchester United's Dutch international would call it quits this summer at the age of 40, after a spectacular Old Trafford finale to his long and illustrious career.

Speaking yesterday, the veteran keeper insisted that he owed it to his family to retire from the incessant demands of the top-flight game, even though he still feels fit enough to carry on.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has always maintained that he will respect the player's decision, and will now look to offer Van der Sar an off-field role within the club.

First though, he will look to secure a top class replacement, and he sees 20-year-old De Gea as the ideal man to take the club into the next decade.

Edwin van der Sar kept his 12th clean sheet of the season against Birmingham City on Saturday.

The Dutchman, now 40, looked as nimble as ever, and the Stretford End chanted his name numerous times throughout the match. He even played a key role in Dimitar Berbatov's third goal, clearing acrobatically and accurately to Rooney before the Bulgarian finishe dthe move.

Van der Sar's performance almost made a mockery of recent rumours suggesting he's set to hang up his gloves at the end of the season. Like Ryan Giggs, he looks like he could play on for at least another year.

But whether or not Edwin does hang up his gloves at the end of this season or next, one thing’s certain: when he does he’ll be sorely missed. United may be synonymous with free-flowing, attacking football, but the Reds' success in recent years has been built as much on a bedrock of defensive solidity. And that’s where Edwin comes in.

A look at the last three seasons confirms United concede fewer goals and keep more clean sheets when the Dutchman plays.This season the difference is even more pronounced. I Want To Make History Here - Anderson

Anderson has claimed that he wants to see out most of his career at Manchester United before returning to his first club in Brazil, Gremio.


“I want to make history here,” said Anderson. “I look at players like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes and I want to do what they have done. I want to remain here until just before the end of my career. Then I hope to return to Brazil and finish my career with Gremio.”

The Brazilian international also condemned the style of England players who he believes dribble too much before passing the ball.


He said: "Fitness is a priority but it is more important to make the ball do the work.

"You don't need to run all over the pitch. It is much better to pass the ball well from one point
to another.

"It can move faster than you can, so you should keep football simple and pass the ball as much as possible.

"In England, sometimes people think you aren't very good if you don't run around a lot.

"But I think that is one of the reasons why England don't do very well at World Cup finals. They run around too much."

Berbatov joins Nistelrooy and Shearer in Premier League history

Berbatov becomes only the third player in Premier League history to score three hat tricks in one season. He joins van Nistelrooy and Alan Shearer. 

United wasted no time as Berbatov scored a header in the first two minutes of play off a flick from O’Shea. The man who replaced Rafael, who is out due to a suspension.

Berbatov would score again in the 31st min. as he takes it in from the left side and beats Johnson inside before finishing. Rooney made this goal happen, he may not be scoring as much as we would like but he is still so crucial to United’s attack, as he makes the players around him better.

For United’s third, Rooney would once again be key, as he threads the ball across the face of goal to find Ryan Giggs, who scores his third of the season. 

Giggs would find Berbatov for the forth, and a very selfish Nani would finally get his goal in the 76th min.

Manchester United tops the premier league table and is slowly pulling away from all other clubs. Chelsea now 10 points behind the Red Devils.
